Some are free. Some require no time commitment. All that is required is you.
Volunteer. Volunteer to help anytime on Tuesday between 10 am and 5pm (our guest will be here from 2 pm until 4 pm), on the second Thursday of the month from 6:00 – 8:30 pm, or on the 2nd Saturday of the month 4:00 – 7:30 pm. Contact the director for more information.
Pray for us. Pray for our program, our guests, our volunteers, our board of directors and our director.
Make a tax-deductible donation to Welcome Ministries. Any amount, that you feel comfortable giving, will help our homeless and hungry neighbors.
Clean out your closets. Donate clothes to the Welcome Ministry. We especially need sensible shoes and socks that will protect our guests from the weather.
Stay in a hotel. The toiletries that come in most hotel bathrooms are the perfect size for our guests. Next time you stay in a hotel, bring the Welcome Ministries your extra toiletries.
Share your individuality. Talk to the director about how your unique skills can benefit Welcome Ministries.
Cook with us. Do you like to cook or want to learn to cook better? Please talk to the director if you would like to help.
Eat with us. One of the most important things we do is sit down and eat with our guests. This is often the most rewarding part of our ministry.
Clean out your library. If you have extra books, you can donate them to the Welcome Ministry. We especially need bibles.
Share devotions with us. The Welcome Ministry tries to fill both the stomachs and spirits of our guests and volunteers. One way we do this is in our devotions before each meal.
Tell a friend. Got a friend that might be interested in helping or supporting the Welcome Ministry. Share our mission with others.
Tell our volunteers thank you for all the work they do.
Share a smile with one of your homeless neighbors.
Donate Food. Go through your pantry and donate non-perishable items to the Welcome Center. Or, talk to the director about buying food for Welcome Ministries.
Become a mentor. This is a great way to develop a relationship with a homeless person by listening and supporting someone. Your homeless neighbor may also teach you a thing or two.
Wash dishes. Washing dishes allows people who are uncomfortable working with the homeless to take part in our ministry.
Clean up. Help us to keep our facilities clean. Clean up allows people who are uncomfortable working with the homeless to take part in our ministry.
Purchase food. Be in charge of buying food for one of our Saturday night dinners.
Help us fundraise. Talk to the director for more information.
Ride the BART. Have old BART tickets? Do not throw them away; donate them to the Welcome Ministry. The Welcome Ministry prefers to give tickets, tokens, passes, gift certificates or vouchers for service instead of cash whenever it is possible.
Talk to the director. Find out what is new at the Welcome Center.
Serve. Carry plates of food to our homeless guests. You can do this at our meals on Tuesday, Thursday, or Saturday.
Be a Master of Ceremonies for a Saturday evening meal.
Set up. Set up allows people who are uncomfortable working with the homeless to take part in our ministry.
Go on a picnic. After you are done eating, donate your extra paper and plastic plates, cups, bowls and silverware.
Become friends with a homeless person. Either in the church or on the streets, the Welcome Ministry is about building relationships with our homeless neighbors.
Share your recipes. We would love you to share your recipes that serve between 50 and 100 people.

Go to the dentist. If you do not need the samples (toothbrush, tooth paste, floss) that your dentist gives you, donate them to the Welcome Center.

Be creative. Can you think of a creative way to help the Welcome Ministry that is not mentioned here? If so, talk to the director.

Donate spare change. It may help a homeless person catch a bus, use a public toilet, or get drug treatment.
Donate medical items. Have an old cane or orthopedic equipment? Donate it to the Welcome Ministries; we will pass it along to our guests.
Donate bedding. Donate your old blankets, pillows, sleeping bags or mats.
Donate shaving supplies. We hand out plastic razors and shaving cream in toiletry packets for our guests.
Donate MUNI tokens. The Welcome Ministry prefers to give tickets, tokens, passes, gift certificates or vouchers for service instead of cash whenever it is possible.
Support the Welcome Ministry. Send us your thoughts, prayers and support so we can share it with our guests.
Let us know of resources that we can refer our guests to. Sit with one of your homeless neighbors at church.
